THE PRESENTATION OF JESUS AT THE TEMPLE

The Presentation of Jesus at the Temple, which falls on 2 February, celebrates an early episode in the life of Jesus. In the Eastern Orthodox Church and some Eastern Catholic Churches, it is one of the twelve Great Feasts, and is sometimes called Hypapante (lit., 'Meeting' in Greek). Other traditional names include Candlemas, the Feast of the Purification of the Virgin, and the Meeting of the Lord. In the Roman Catholic Church the "Feast of the Presentation of the Lord" is a Feast Day, the major feast between the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle on 25 January and the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter the Apostle on 22 February. In some Western liturgical churches, Vespers (or Compline) on the Feast of the Presentation marks the end of the Epiphany season. In the Church of England, the Presentation of Christ in the Temple is a Principal Feas tcelebrated either on 2 February or on the Sunday between 28 January and 3 February.

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born king to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum     pum
To lay before the king, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum

Little bidi bubbles
I wish, I wish I had just one wish
If I had one wish
I would like to be a fish
And I’ll swim, swim, swim
Oh under the crystal sea I’ll be
I’ll say, I’ll say
And I’ll swim, swim, swim
Oh under the crystal sea I’ll be
Little bidi bubbles
Little bidi bubbles

Little baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That’s fit to give the king, pa rum pum pum pum
Rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum

Gonna tell you about a beat That’s gonna make you move your feet

SECOND GRADE LYRICS (Oh come, all ye faithful)

Oh come, all ye faithful
O come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,

You got me so wild,
How can I ever deny,
You got me so high,
So high I cannot feel the fire.
And you keep telling me,
Telling me that you'll be sweet,
And you'll never want to leave my side,
As long as I don't break these...
Promises, and they still feel all so wasted on myself
chorus
Crush a bit, little bit, Roll it up, take a hit, Feeling lit,
feeling right, 2am, summer night, I don't care,
hand on the wheel, driving truck I'm doing my thang,
rolling in the mid beside me now, living my life,

O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord. Yea,
Father of Glory, Light of light
I don't want him tonight
I don't wanna be cruel
I don't wanna deny
Failure is my favorite thing

Take me to the far
Think up to sorrow
Sorrow for break up
Borrow who you are

THE APOSTLES CREED

The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
Amen.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS

The Instituto Cientifico Motolinia, through the Language Department, invites all the groups to participate in the 2012 Christmas Festival by preparing a Carol presentation. Our Christmas Festival will take place on December 18th in the Auditorio de la Benemérita Escuela Normal Veracruzana.
This year’s Christmas Festival will have a general theme:  Musical Genres. Therefore, each group will choose a GENRE as the main topic for their presentation.
An outside jury (formed by a group of experts in different fields) will evaluate the following aspects to select the winner carol/ group:

1.         Correct English Diction, Good Intonation and an Audible Tone of voice

2.         Choreography related to the Festival’s theme

3.         Costumes’ originality, elaboration and punctuality

I.              About the Christmas Carol

The most important aspects of the Carol presentation are: the speaking, singing and  performance.

a.      The Christmas Carols will be raffled to avoid having the same Carol used by more than one group. The raffle will take place on Monday, October 29 in the Coordination Office. Therefore, a member of each group will  participate in the raffle.

b.       Each group can prepare their own re-mix. The chosen lyrics must be respectful and in English.

c.      The whole song must not be longer than 5 minutes. All the carols need to have the same number of verses and chorus lines (four and four).

d.      A copy of the lyrics of the remix) needs to be delivered during the recess on Friday, November 16th to the Coordination Office. No changes to the songs will be allowed after that date.

e.      The copy of CD (no MP3 format) only WNA containing the recorder Christmas Carol remix of each level must be handed in by Monday, November 26 at the Coordination Office as well during the recess time.

II.        About the Costume

Students should design and TOTALLY elaborate the costumes with ENVIROMENTAL-FRIENDLY MATERIALS. This means not using toxic or polluting substances, such as spray, plastic, foam, etc. The costumes will be made ONLY during the English classes. If a group sends their costumes to the tailor/seamstress or having outside help, it will be banned from participating in the contest. If any student is working in the Christmas Carols’ material at different times from the already established, he/she will have his/her material taken away by a teacher or prefecto.
From November 12th to 16th students will present their ideas for the costumes in the form of a drawing to their classmates and teacher. Each teacher will carry out an inside-classroom contest to choose the best idea. The winning costume will be handed in a handmade drawing, by putting material labels that will be used for the students’ outfits. This “example-costume” has to be handed in by Tuesday, November 20th.  in the Coordination Office (from 9:00 o’clock to 12:00 o’clock).
All the costumes have to be made from November 20th  to the 30th  By Monday December 3rd all the costumes will be evaluated. The costumes will be compared to the “example-costume” given to the Coordination. Points will be awarded for creativity, similarity to the original idea, group-work/hand-made and punctuality.

III.      About the Choreography and Scenery

The points awarded to the choreography depend on the creativity and originality of the dance, as well as the general coordination and appropriateness to the chosen music. For no reason, there could be external help in the setting of the steps. In addition, all the students must actively participate in the dance.

The Scenery DOES NOT award any points for the contest. However, it is fine if the group chooses to make one. But any scenery used in the Christmas Festival ought to be made with carton board or tetra packs.

IV.      About the Rehearsals

The rehearsals outside the classroom will start on Tuesday, December 4 untilL Friday, December 14 according to the schedule programmed by the English teachers, the Lenguages Department, and the Junior and Senior High School Directions. There will be a general rehearsal on December 17th at 12:00 o’clock.

V.       Others

Once the lyrics and costumes have been registered there will be NO modifications.

The Junior High School students do not compete against the Senior High Students. In other words, each level competes with itself. Thus, repeating or singing the same carol in Junior and Senior high school does not represent any problem as long as the steps and the choreography are not the same. In the event of a tie, the two tied groups will perform again to obtain the winner and the runner-up.

Every student in each group must take part in the Festival. Active participation is expected. Collaboration, helpful and positive attitude is necessary.  If a student does not participate, s/he will not receive the 20% of their grade, equivalent to the oral exam for the final partial or third bimestrial. The first-place will obtain an additional point for the January-February term, while the rest of the participating groups will only get .5. The prizes will be awarded to the First, Second and Third place of each department in February.

 God bless you all!
